This could be a crippling blow for UK’s class.

Kentucky Football is not Alabama Football, so you can’t blame any player who spurns the Wildcats in favor of the Crimson Tide.

That’s apparently what four-star quarterback prospect Mac Jones has done, according to SEC Country.

Mac Jones, a four-star prospect from The Bolles School (Jacksonville, Fla.), told SEC Country that he has flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Alabama. Jones had been committed to Kentucky since July 2015. Jones is currently on Alabama’s campus for the team’s summer camp.

Nick Saban himself extended an offer to Jones back in April. The offer definitely made him rethink his commitment.

Jones has also since confirmed the news:

This is a brutal loss for the Wildcats, but shouldn’t be surprising. Alabama is the gold standard when it comes to college football. Mark Stoops has built UK into a respectable program, but still is nowhere close to the caliber of program Nick Saban has built in Tuscaloosa.

Jones threw at Alabama’s camp this week, and he earned an offer from the Crimson Tide back in April after being committed to UK since last July. At the time, Mac was merely a three-star prospect who pledged to the Cats primarily because of then-offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.

But Dawson was fired after one disastrous season, so there’s been unease this offseason as to whether UK would hold off bigger programs to keep Jones.

We’ll update this story as more details come out…
