The Wake Forest football program just landed a major recruit. Troy Simon, a defensive back out of Alpharetta, Georgia, has committed to play football at Wake Forest University. 247 Sports ranks him as a 3-star prospect and the 60th best cornerback in the 2017 recruiting class. More importantly, he chose Wake Forest over offers from Notre Dame, Mississippi State, and California.

Troy Simon has excellent size at 6’1″, 180 pounds. He comes from Milton High School, which is an excellent program in the Atlanta area. Simon, along with D.J. Taylor and Jamal Riggins, have the potential to give Wake Forest an excellent defense moving forward. Simon is a very physical corner, who also has very good coverage skills. He was named the defensive back MVP at The Opening regional in Atlanta.

The Wake Forest staff identified Simon early and deserve major credit for building the relationship and beating out several major programs for his services. This is a major addition, and Simon has a great chance to play very early in his career.
