That latest USC Trojans recruiting notes.
Commitments
Erik Krommenhoek has comitted to USC. Krommenhoek is a Three-star Tight End from Monte Vista High School. Listed at 6-5 and around 240 pounds, Krommenhoek will come into USC with a great frame to develop and help the Trojans offense with run blocking as well as pass catching ability. Tight ends in Tee Martin’s offense tend to have some very crucial blocking assignments in many run schemes and will occasionally stay in to block on some pass plays. Blocking is certainly one of Krommenhoek’s strengths and he should be able to help the Trojan offense in this aspect. He has also displayed good hands on film and will need to work on his route running in college, but Krommenhoek has the potential to be a dual threat tight end.
New Offers
Defensive end My-King Johnson has received an offer from USC. After a good showing at USC camp, the 6-4, 235 pound athletic end from Tempe high school in Arizona picked up his fourth Pac-12 scholarship offer. Johnson is a pass rush specialist. At the high school level, he relies on his length and athleticism to get to the quarterback. If Johnson commits to USC, defensive line coach Kenechi Udeze would have a raw athlete who he could mold into a very good all around defensive end. Johnson should have the ability to add different pass rush moves to his arsenal, however he does need to improve on his leverage as he tends to play too high.
Other notes
Three-Star Cornerback Jaylan Shaw of Centennial High School in Corona, CA has narrowed down his list to four schools, USC being included. Shaw also lists Boise State, Washington State, and UCLA in his top four. Shaw has good size listed at 5-11. He is a long strider and has long arms which will help him in press coverage. He also has fluid hips which gives him crisp change of direction and can cover a lot of ground which gives him some position versatility.
Four-Star Cornerback Thomas Graham released his top 10 list and USC is still in the running. After being previously committed, Graham decided to re-open his recruiting process a few months ago after lack of communication between he and the coaching staff. Graham is rated as the number 5 corner in the country and number 8 overall recruit in the state of California. At 5-11 Graham is another lengthy athlete with range and would be an outstanding signing for Clay Helton. If he decides to go elsewhere though, it would be a big disappointment considering he was already previously committed and has family ties to the school. His sister, Jasmyne, is a track and field athlete at USC.
