Speaking to reporters after Wednesday’s annual College Football Playoff meetings, Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said that UCLA AD Dan Guerrero, the league’s representative on the NCAA Division I Council, “did not vote the way he was supposed to.” Echoing recent comments from outspoken Washington State coach Mike Leach, Scott said 11 of the league’s 12 schools “wanted this studied more comprehensively, but in the meantime, we prefer the status quo, which for us allows coaches to attend camps in other markets.”
Okay, I don’t want the PAC 12 telling me how smart they are when they can’t even figure out which initiative to vote for. But seriously, the consensus now seems to be that the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction. Representatives from every conference are displeased with the ACC’s proposal (which, keep in mind, they voted for.) I would very much doubt that the present ACC rule stays permanently — some sort of compromise will no doubt win over eventually.
Let’s never play USA again.

Baseball got thumped 8-2 on Wednesday, and Softball looked completely lifeless until a bad throw by USA let the Tide plate the game-winning runs.

Football among Alabama teams with well above average APR score | AL.com
Alabama’s football team scored a 979, 15 points better than the national average for Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams and tied for third-best in the SEC. The Tide basketball team’s score was 984, 20 points higher than the national average.
Alabama is just one of 11 schools to have APRs above 970 in both major revenue sports. Other members of the club include the usual suspects: Duke, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Notre Dame, etc. Well done, everyone. Well done.

Former Alabama PG Justin Coleman to stay in state
Former Alabama point guard Justin Coleman has chosen a transfer destination, the point guard announced Wednesday. Coleman, a native of Birmingham, committed to the Samford Bulldogs‘ men’s basketball program this afternoon after two seasons with the Crimson Tide.
Okay, it’s your college experience I guess, Justin. It looks more like Coleman thought the transfer market was more robust than it turned out to be. Good luck at Samford and whatever conference they play in and with whatever television deal you have now. I’m not bitter, I just really don’t understand this one at all other than 1. I had to get out and 2. I want to go home. Then again, that may be all that is required.

“After I got off the phone with coach Johnson, my dad called and the first thing he told me he loved me and was proud of me regardless of what happens,” Obasohan said. “He told me to keep things in perspective and that these games weren’t going to determine my future as a player. He said to go out there and have some fun, so that’s what I tried to do from that point on.” That’s exactly what Obasohan did.
Over his final two games at the tournament, the 6-2, 210-pound guard led his team in scoring (22 and 26 points, respectively) and averaged 24.0 points and 5.0 assists a game while shooting an impressive 14-of-24 (.583) from the field and 7-of-10 (.700) from beyond the arc. As a result, Obasohan was named one of 11 players in the entire 64-man field – and the only player from his team – to earn a spot on the 2016 PIT All-Tournament team.
For the three-game tournament, Obasohan led the his team, the Portsmouth Partnership, with 16.7 points per game, while also collecting 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals per contest. He shot 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from the field and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from beyond the arc.
Retin had a great PIT, leading his team in scoring and being named to the All-PIT team. Up next, per the article, is hiring an agent by this weekend and hoping for an NBA combine invite. The latter may never happen, but Obasohan will no doubt have a nice career in Europe, even if the NBA/D-league never pan out.

Alabama’s projected two-deep defensive depth chart for 2016
It looks like Fitzpatrick exited the spring as the first-team cornerback opposite Humphrey, and that appears to be where he could line up in base, nickel and dime. Smith played well at the Star position this spring as a rising senior and could hold onto that spot if Brown’s suspension from the NCAA is not appealed. Star is another position to watch this offseason.
The depth chart projection is about what you’d expect. The biggest surprise is not how fluid the linebackers are, rather that there are so many new faces in contention for playing time. It is also good to see Mo Smith emerging and locking down the star corner after two years of fighting for increased playing time. Mr. Brown may not have a starting job even if/when the NCAA ever clears him or reinstates his eligibility for 2016.
