The Michigan coach is blending in behind enemy lines.

Jim Harbaugh, the eccentric head coach of the University of Michigan’s football program, is in Baltimore on Monday for a satellite camp with Maryland-area prospects. He has made a strong wardrobe choice.

Harbaugh has done a bang-up job of taking up more media oxygen this spring and summer than any other coach in the country. A huge part of Harbaugh’s shtick (and, really, his appeal), is that he’s wild, crazy and unique. He’s not like other college football coaches, who probably wouldn’t choose to wear a Cal Ripken jersey (or a Hank Aaron jersey) (or a tucked-in Allen Iverson jersey) on a football field. It’s odd, and as such, it’s interesting.

Anyway, Harbaugh is in town to build relationships with local coaches and plant seeds for the recruitment of players he likes. This is part of the equation with satellite camps for Maryland, and Michigan won’t be only last big-time program to pay a visit to the area. Former Maryland head coach Mike Locksley, now at Alabama, is there, too.
