The in-state prospect is heading south for his senior year.
2017 four-star wide receiver KJ Hamler, who has an offer from Michigan, will not attend St. Mary’s in Orchard Lake, Michigan for his senior year. Instead, Hamler will transfer to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

The 5-foot-9, 155-pound wide receiver holds offers from Michigan State, Oregon, Penn State, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Pittsburgh, San Diego State, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Hamler was recruited to play for the Maize and Blue by Tyrone Wheatley.
Kellen Mond, who is the starting quarterback at IMG Academy, quickly welcomed Hamler with open arms. The 2017 four-star dual-threat quarterback decomitted from Baylor on June 1 and has his recruitment open, but the 247Sports Crystal Ball predicts Mond to Auburn. The combination of Mond to Hamler is a scary thought for opponents of IMG Academy during the 2016 season.

Hamler, according to 247Sports, is ranked 47th among all wide receivers in the Class of 2017 and is the No. 10 overall player in the state of Michigan. However, the three-star will slot in as the No. 50 overall player in the state of Florida. Hamler’s days in Michigan are over, for now.
“I would like to thank St Mary’s and the coaches for the three years I have had with them,” Hamler wrote, in part, on Twitter. “I appreciate everyone who has supported me my last three years at OLAKE, and the brotherhood I gained. But this is an opportunity that I feel is best for me at this time and I hope my brotherly bond continues as I begin my new journey. Please respect my decision and thank you.”
IMG Academy will battle against Grayson High School from Loganville, Georgia in Week 1 on ESPN to open up the 2016 season.
