Football:

The West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame presently has 68 Mountaineer football players and coaches enshrined among the school’s all-time athletic immortals. The vast majority of the most deserving Mountaineer football players are either in the WVU Sports Hall of Fame or are in the queue to be inducted when they become eligible. However, as time marches on, memories fade and committee members begin transitioning to the Great Hall of Fame Above, there are some very deserving Mountaineer greats through the years who have slipped through the cracks for one reason or another.

Around The League

Around The League

Around The Big XII:

All three Big 12 Conference teams in the College Baseball World Series are advancing to Omaha. Oklahoma State beat South Carolina and TCU took care of Texas A&M to punch their tickets, while the Texas Tech Red Raiders beat down East Carolina. The Big 12’s success only supports the argument that West Virginia should have been included in the in the tournament.

Realignment broke up Texas and Texas A&M, one of college football’s greatest hate-relationships, but the two won’t stop eying each other. Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong says the two programs are “trying to work something out.”

Around The NCAA:

Following a legend is never easy, but Justin Fuente brings a great track record to the table as he takes over for Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech. SB Nation’s Bill Connelly believes if Tech generates any offensive traction, Fuente’s first season could be fantastic.

Five-star dual-threat QB Tate Martell, a former Texas A&M commit, gave his pledge to the Ohio State Buckeyes over the weekend. Martell, at one point, had West Virginia on his radar but recently announced the Mountaineers didn’t make the cut.
