UCLA offered 2018 Newbury Park HS QB Cameron Rising a scholarship today. By itself, that news isn’t that big since UCLA does extend a lot of offers. But it was who Rising ran into on campus that makes it somewhat newsworthy.
The world of high school recruiting is fickle to say the least.
It’s tough enough when a kid commits as high school kids do have a tendency to change their minds.
That’s one of the reasons why we usually wait until a kid announces a commitment and we generally don’t cover every scholarship offer UCLA makes to high school students.
But, today, we’re going to make an exception.
UCLA offered a 2018 quarterback today from Newbury Park HS named Cameron Rising. Cameron was quite happy to pick up the offer from UCLA today and, as is the norm these days, he tweeted about it.
I’d like to wish Cameron the best of luck in his recruiting process and, while I certainly hope he chooses to attend the greatest university on the planet, the reason I’m writing about this today is because of who Cameron met while he was on campus today.
Doug Dagan, one of Cameron’s Newbury Park High coaches posted a few other pics from the campus visit.
Apparently, Seattle Seahawks quarterback and girlfriend Ciara were also on campus and were kind enough to pose for pictures with Cameron and Coach Dagan.
As those of us who have spent significant time on the UCLA campus can attest, in case there was any doubt, this is the sort of thing which can happen anytime at UCLA.
Let’s just hope that Wilson wasn’t trying to recruit Rising to Wisconsin or NC State.
Go Bruins!!!
